The 14 steps of the termination procedure.
STEP 1: Cut cable end square. Slide gland onto cable.
STEP 2: Apply pyro stripper and turn clockwise to remove sheath.
STEP 3: Use pliers to stop stripper at required point and clean powder from exposed conductors.
STEP 4: Alternatively use joistripper tool for popular 500v cables.
STEP 5: Using pliers/pyro potter, screw seal pot onto cable as shown. Remove loose powder and metallic swarf.
STEP 6: When using disc type closure, position headed conductor sleeves correctly as shown.
STEP 7: Completely fill pot with compound from one side only.
STEP 8: Apply pressure to enter stub cap or disc into pot recess.
STEP 9: Use pyro crimp tool, compress compound and secure pot closure.
STEP 10: Alternatively use pyro-x-crimp plate type tool.
STEP 11: Fit conductor sleeving if using stub cap closure.
STEP 12: Before fitting gland and seal cut shroud to ensure tight fit over outer covering.
STEP 13: Then remove required length of covering.
STEP 14: In corrosive environments use PVC tape to protect exposed copper sheath and gland after fitting cable into apparatus.
